The Boston Youth Service Network (BYSN) Youth Council is a major component of Network activism and authentic alternative education youth voice. It is the only youth council in Boston representing the perspective of out-of school youth enrolled education diploma, GED/HiSET, and career exploration programs in the BYSN Network.

The Boston Youth Service Network (BYSN) Youth Council impact and visibility has seen tremendous growth over the past year. In 2016, BYSN Youth Council members participated in the My Brother’s Keeper Steering Committee, the Youth Jobs Coalition, and during the Youth Lead the Change Participatory Budgeting Process. BYSN Youth Liaisons served as active participants in the Youth Transitions Task Force, Mayor’s Youth Council and Opportunity Youth Collaborative meetings. They bring unique perspective to challenges and opportunities as they have personal experience transitioning from a traditional to an alternative education setting.
