Nothing is more radical than believing in someone’s dream and investing in their potential. This is especially true when you believe in the fullest potential of someone who has been marginalized in our society. So often low-income, communities of color are viewed as broken and in need of fixing.
BREAD focuses on the belief that Boston’s communities of color are sufficient and capable of becoming prosperous by investing value in ourselves, while serving others. We believe it is possible to express our strengths and to share these strengths in a mutually beneficial way to help each of us prosper and grow, but only if we create space to collectively nurture our human connections.
BREAD is curating a positive and virtuous platform, where all participants leave feeling fulfilled and valued. Systemic change takes time. We see ourselves as sharing the tools of knowledge, connecting people to a pipeline of resources, while building our collective and individual resiliency that contributes to economic stability.
We believe that entrepreneurs, creatives, and millennials are central to dreaming, designing and implementing systems that serve and benefit the whole of our community. We believe that anything is possible when equipped with the waypower, the tools needed to make lasting, positive change.
The Boston Youth Service Network (BYSN) Youth Council serves as the official youth thought partner for all BREAD initiatives. Check out the next speaking engagement, you will be sure to see BYSN youth in attendance!
